Captain Pat’s Seafood Restaurant Review

Flounder Basket

One day not long ago, a friend and I were going to lunch and he suggested we go for seafood and we ended up at Captain Pat’s Seafood Restaurant and Carry Out. It is a small building with a sign that says you have arrived. There is also a large sign that advertises all you can eat for $39.95. In this day and age, that is a bargain. He assured me it was good food as it was a favorite with him.

Fried Shrimp and Crab Balls Combo

Just inside the door is a small open room with a kitchen on one side and dining tables and booths on the opposite side. Tiffany style hanging lamps adorn the ceiling and vinyl cloths with a seafood motif cover the tables. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by staff and proceeded to sit in a booth. Our server came promptly and asked us for our drink order. Menus were on the table, but my friend already knew the combo with two or three picks was for him. The choices for the combo were steamed or fried shrimp, ½ dozen oysters fried or steamed, clam strips, 5 fish bites, or 5 crab balls. He picked the shrimp and the crab balls. I checked the menu and ordered the flounder basket. Both the combo and the basket come with hush puppies, coleslaw and French fries. I really enjoyed the flounder and my friend said hush puppies are best when eaten with honey, so we dipped them in the honey condiment that was on the table. I tried them both with and without honey and I liked them best with honey. Coleslaw was nice and crisp and fresh.

Several of us went back for a second visit. I arrived a little bit early and the wait staff told me I could go ahead and pick a table. As soon as I sat down, the waiter asked me if I would like a beverage. Soon my dinner guests arrived and the waiter got their drinks. We were talking so he gave us time to look over the menu. For our entrées we ordered the Fried Shrimp Basket, Stuffed Shrimp with Crab Imperial and the Rockfish, which could be fried or broiled. All three came with coleslaw, French fries and hush puppies. We also opted for a side of their Macaroni Salad, which we heard was the best, and an order of Fried Onion Rings. The food came fairly quickly and our waiter appeared several times asking if we needed anything. It’s nice to know the wait staff is available to you when dining. The Stuffed Shrimp looked fantastic and was a big hit. The rockfish was done to perfection and the portion was tremendous to require a doggie bag. The Fried Shrimp Basket was presented very nicely. The onion rings were crisp and a perfect compliment to our dinner.

While we were dining, someone came in and joined us for a few minutes. She ordered a Macaroni Salad to go as she said it was great. Apparently the word is out about Captain Pat’s Macaroni Salad. The menu also featured children’s meals called Minnow Meals, which is a nice touch for family dining. Dress is casual attire and the place is also handicap accessible. The restaurant is clean and has very friendly staff. It’s nice to be able to see the staff cooking the meals in the kitchen. You also can order seafood to take home and cook or take already cooked for you.

As a former Employee at Capt. Pat’s I will have to agree with the critics remarks on the food and staff. I love eating there whenever i get the chance. SO Kudos to Capt Pat staff.
