Learn How to Make Your Own Website using Wix.com

March 23, 2016

wixOn Saturday, April 9, Charles Gauthier, owner of Chespax Web Design, will be teaching a free class that is open to customers of all ages. The class will walk you through the steps of creating your own website using the free online site, Wix.com. The class will be held at the Calvert Library Prince Frederick in Meeting Room 3 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Mr. Gauthier has been creating websites since the early 80’s after attending the University of Delaware under the National Science Foundation’s summer grant program to interest teachers in using computers in education. He was the Technology Coordinator at Plum Point Middle School until he retired in 2006. Since that time, he has worked with businesses throughout the region designing and building websites.

Wix.com is a cloud-based web development platform that allows users to create HTML5 websites and mobile sites through the use of their online drag and drop tools. The visually impressive layouts are appealing for small businesses, restaurants, online stores and artists such as musicians and photographers. They are optimized for mobile devices and can be spiced up with one of the numerous apps available from the Wix App Market.

To get the most out of this class, you must have your own laptop. It is suggested that you plan ahead and have the digital photographs and images, videos and graphics organized so they can be added quickly to the website you will create.

“I am hoping people who may not think they could ever create a website come on by and see what a lot of fun it can be,” says Mr. Gauthier. To register or get more information, go to calvertlibrary.info or call Robyn Truslow at 410-535-0291 or 301-855-1862.
