On Saturday, December 29, at 1:15 am, the North Beach and Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a report of a single vehicle accident at Bayside Road and Locust Grove Road in Sunderland.
Crews arrived on scene to discover a vehicle had crashed into a tree, with a single occupant trapped.
Rescue crews worked to free the patient from the Ford Expedition. The victim, once extricated from the vehicle, was flown by MSP Helicopter to an area trauma center.
Calvert County Sheriff Deputies continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
