Lotus Kitchen Restaurant Review

Lotus Kitchen - CopyRecently, I met a friend at Solomons Island for lunch (and some Pokemon Go). I had heard a lot of good things about Lotus Kitchen, so I had to go!

The restaurant is in a quaint house at 14618 Solomons Island Road. It is owned and operated by two local, female chefs. They focus on bringing fresh, simple, and elegant food, wine and beer to the island. There is dining both outside and inside. Outside, tables and seating areas are located under the trees. Inside, there is a porch and two dining rooms, all with eclectic, arty decorations. Inside or out, it is comfortable and inviting. You order your food inside, and they bring it to you when it’s ready. The menu is not huge, but has enough choices. They offer both breakfast (9am-11:30am) and lunch. They have daily specials for soup, gnocchi, quiche, pizza and salad. I love having lunch with friends who share! We ordered different sandwiches, so I could try two! We got the Pot of Gold (ham, brie, caramelized onion, and spinach with honey-dijon) and the Turkey Club Wrap (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and guacamole with cilantro-dijon aioli. They came with the choice of a side (from chips to different salads). We both got salads. I’m not sure which sandwich I liked better. I am partial to carmelized onions and brie cheese! They were both delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful and well-prepared. I’m looking forward to trying other menu items in the future. Before we left, we both got their famous Key Lime Pie. Because we got there early in the day, the pie wasn’t completely set, but the flavor was wonderful! I loved the lightness and the lime flavor. The lime was not overwhelming. I’ll go back! And I’ll get the pie again!

Their hours are Monday 9am-6pm, Tuesday they are closed, Wednesday 9am-8pm, Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 9am-10pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, and Sunday 9am-6pm.

Their Facebook posted the following message on 8/5/2016:
Please note that as a result of some growing pains, we have adjusted our weekend hours.
For the next couple of weeks, our Saturday, Sunday, and Monday hours are 9am-4pm!!
That means that Sunday Funday Music will be hosted from 1-4pm for the next couple of weeks!

They have a Facebook page and a website (www.lotuskitchensolomons.com)

The term chef is thrown around loosely these days. Southern Maryland population has the palette of a seven year old who thinks McDonald’s chicken nuggets are delicious.

Would definitely be interested in knowing the pricing. From the pics, it looks like dressed up bar food. And, what’s with serving the salad in Solo cups?

Nothing says class like food served in a plastic cup!

This is my favorite spot on Solomons to have a yummy lunch! Their food is a little pricey and their portions aren’t huge (meaning, it’s probably the quantity you should be eating!), but they always have unique & delicious selections. Great coffee and their outside seating overlooks the Patuxent River!
On Thursday evenings they offer a special tapas menu, which they post on their Facebook page. They also host musical entertainment.
