Between September 2 and 6, 2016, officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office took three theft reports at a construction site in Waldorf.
On September 13, a citizen found some of the stolen items, including copper, in a wooded area. Detectives set up surveillance and observed three suspects cutting the copper for scrap.
Dario Harley Smith, 25, of Waldorf, John Ariel Cargill, 18, of no fixed address, and Ralph Herman Ballengee, 18, of Waldorf, were arrested and charged with theft.
Officers R. Johnson, E. Weaver, and R. Boggs made the arrests.
