The vocal ensemble PING will present a concert of a capella music at the Great Hall of Middleham and St. Peter’s Parish in Lusby on Sunday March 3, at 4 pm. The concert, open to the public, will be presented as a fundraiser in support of the Interfaith Build for Patuxent Humanity and donations will be accepted on a free will basis.
PING is made up of undergraduate singers from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and is directed by Professor of Music, Larry Vote. The nine male and female singers will perform works spanning music of the 15th to 21st centuries, including works by Josquin des Prez, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Jaccob Arcadelt, Pierre Passereau, Charles Stanford, John Tavener and a new work by student member Ben van Nest.
The word PING refers to a sharp resonant sound meant to attract attention.
