Assistant to the Sheriff Suspended for Alleged Civil Problem

Major Joseph “Buddy” Gibson, Assistant Sheriff of Administration

On Thursday, May 16, Charles County Sheriff, Rex Coffey suspended the police powers of Major Joseph “Buddy” Gibson. Gibson is currently serving as the Assistant Sheriff of Administration. An inquiry into the situation was made, and according to Charles County Sheriff’s Office Public Information spokesperson, Diane Richardson, “Major Gibson had his police powers suspended on May 16. Due to personnel laws we can only state further that the suspension was not related to Major Gibson’s duties for the Sheriff’s Office.”

SMNEWSNET has confirmed that Gibson was involved in a domestic dispute and that a protective order was filed against him. A hearing is scheduled on May 22 on that matter. According to  sources,Gibson has cooperated with the Sheriff’s Office throughout the course of the investigation.

On Thursday May 16 at 10:09 pm Gibson wrote the following on his personal Facebook page “I’m sorry, I can not keep up with the private messages, texts, phone calls and emails asking me if I am okay. I am doing fine.”

Charles County Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional information at this time.

    Will that P.O. order keep him from working as long as its in effect? cause I know with state correction you can have a p.o and a affair with another staff member and keep your job! no investigations at all! they hide behind the badge!
