Baby Ava

Update Dec. 28, 2011
According to family members, baby Ava had an MRI on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the results of the MRI were mostly inconclusive. “So while we did not get positive news the family is still very hopeful and praying to get some good news in the next 2-4 weeks. Baby Ava’s parents ask that everyone please continue to pray for Ava as she fights to try and recover,” said Lisa DelRicco, Ava’s aunt.

Once again, the family would like to thank everyone for their support. ”We are humbled by the generosity both monetarily and through prayer.” For those that would like to make a donation, you can make them through www.paypal.com please use the following as your donation recipient: DelriccoBenefitFund@gmail.com or HelpBabyAva@gmail.com

Please keep the prayers coming!

Praying for a Christmas Miracle
An 18-month old baby continues to fight for her life at Johns Hopkins Trauma Center in Baltimore after she was left critically injured following a car wreck in Ocean City, Md. on Dec. 16. The 18-month old girl known as baby Ava, is the niece of Lusby resident Lisa DelRicco. The family is asking for all the prayers and well wishes there are for a Christmas miracle that would allow for baby Ava to make a full recovery.

Last Friday, Ava and her mother were in their vehicle sitting at a red traffic light at 142nd Street along Coastal Highway, when they were struck by a full size pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the pickup truck was later found to have PCP inside his truck. Emergency crews transported baby Ava from the scene by medevac to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she was stabilized, but then later flown to Johns Hopkins where she remains in a medically induced coma.

Friends of the infant’s family have set up a bank account to help with the family’s medical expenses. An account has been set up at Community Bank of Tri-County. Donations can be made payable to: Casey St. John- Baby Ava Fundraiser,  Mailed to: Baby Ava- Vera’s Beach Club, 1200 White Sands Drive, Lusby Md., 20657 — at Vera’s Beach Club.

Vera’s General Manager Casey St. John has purchased a Christmas Tree in Baby Ava’s name is will be making custom, hand- made ornaments to adorn the tree, available for purchase for $5. Other fundraisers are in the works such as a Polar Plunge planned for February.

Family and friends could use all the prayer chains, well wishes and donations there are to go around during this difficult time.

SM News Net is in touch with the family and will continue to follow baby Ava’s recovery.
