Praying for a Christmas Miracle
An 18-month old baby continues to fight for her life at Johns Hopkins Trauma Center in Baltimore after she was left critically injured following a car wreck in Ocean City, Md. on Dec. 16. The 18-month old girl known as baby Ava, is the niece of Lusby resident Lisa DelRicco. The family is asking for all the prayers and well wishes there are for a Christmas miracle that would allow for baby Ava to make a full recovery.
Last Friday, Ava and her mother were in their vehicle sitting at a red traffic light at 142nd Street along Coastal Highway, when they were struck by a full size pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the pickup truck was later found to have PCP inside his truck. Emergency crews transported baby Ava from the scene by medevac to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she was stabilized, but then later flown to Johns Hopkins where she remains in a medically induced coma.
