The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship features the world’s fastest professional motocross racers on the roughest, and toughest race tracks in the world. The Red Bull Budds Creek National is your chance to experience all the action seen on NBC Sports Network, and Fuel TV, in your own backyard. The races, that for many years were synonymous with Fathers Day weekend, will be letting the gates drop starting at 1pm on 22nd June this year. You will be able to see riders like Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, Blake Baggett, and many others from around the world, and locally. For full details on the day’s events visit www.buddscreek.com, and tickets are available for purchased HERE.
After four rounds Ryan Villopoto has three overall wins, but Ryan Dungey is hanging steady in second place. Ryan Dungey is getting closer each week to Villopoto’s speed. James Stewart got some of his mojo back last week while leading for several laps. The top three aren’t the only ones shining at the front of pack, Barcia, Canard, Alessi, Rattray, and Josh Grant have shown up at the front and on the podiums.
They 250 class is showing that the future is bright, and the 450 class is going to get even more loaded in the next few years. The German, Ken Roczen has a slight points lead on Eli Tomac, but the French rider Marvin Musquin is getting some momentum by taking the overall wins at the last two events. Musquin won the overall last weekend showing he plans on making this a three way title fight. Keep an eye out for Zach Osborne, the slightly injured Blake Baggett, and the fast rookie Cooper Webb to get in the mix as well.
If those guys aren’t enough to cheer about, support the local guys trying to make the main event at Budds Creek! Last week at the Lucas Oil Motocross National held in Mount Morris, Pa, we saw local riders like Nicholas Lane (Great Mills, MD), Eric McKay (Leonardtown, MD), Kenny Day (Budds Creek, MD), Robert Kraft (Clinton, MD) try to make it to the main event but fall just outside the pack to qualify, while Tony Archer of Waldorf, and Broc Schmelyum of Westminster qualified and lined up against the top riders. You should see these riders and others, from the local area, try to make the main event here at their home track.
The race may not be on Father’s Day weekend this year, but this race always brings out a family based crowd that enjoys the total motocross experience that we are used to at Budds Creek Motocross track! See you there!
