011And last week, the Young Marines went to the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department to learn about First Aid. The course was taught by Greg Corliss, EMS Chief for the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. These young men and women were listening intently on what to do and not do in emergencies and asking questions. The course was intended to give these Young Marines the know how to get through an emergency, anywhere and anytime. Those who attended this course were CPL Nathan P Snyder, LCPL Noah A Wayson, PVT Tristan Bishop, PVT Hannah F Opheim, PVT Anthony E Valencia, PVT William R Walton, LCPL Terrell N Gross, PVT Dylan W Kepich, PFC Draven M Marlowe, PVT William T Phipps, PVT Kytana VandenBos, PVT Andrew H Harley, PVT Verity T Imel, PVT Evan G Odell and PVT Justin Valencia. It was truly inspiring to see these young people learning something that can be used to help themselves, their friends and family, as well as citizens that they come into contact with everyday. It is also rewarding to see the parents taking an interest and attending these workshops alongside their children. Watch for the Young Marines Open House on August 24th at American Legion Post 206, Chesapeake Beach.

Congratulations, Young Marines, for a job well done! Keep up the good work.
