James ThompsonJames Walker Thompson, 68 of Brandywine, MD, passed on February 18, 2014 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. James was born June 17, 1945 in Manhattan, NY. He was the son of the late James Walker Thompson and Flora White-Thompson.

James enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, fishing, hunting, camping, photography and collecting African-American artifacts. James served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Before moving to Maryland in the late 70′s, he worked for Brooklyn Union Gas Company. As he settled into his new life in Maryland, he followed his passion for teaching and began his teaching career in air conditioning and refrigeration as well as coached the track and football team for Gwynn Park High School. James never lost his passion and furthered his career at Danfross and Besche Oil where he continued to teach air conditioning and refrigeration. Once James became ill, he was forced to stop working but that did not stop him. Once he had control over his health, he continued working as an independent contractor and trainer.

In addition to his father, James Walker Thompson, Sr., he was predeceased by his daughter, Thais Nicole Thompson, his brothers Jerry Thompson and Alonzo Thompson.
James is survived by his daughters, Entric Cherick Hyde (Uroy) of Fort Lee, VA, Michelle Thompson {unknown}, his wife, Thais D. Thompson (separated) Fort Lee ,VA , sisters, Valerie Jones of Queens, NY, Jane Grays of Beltsville, MD, brother-in-law, Frank Jones, two grandchildren, Anthony James Hyde and Autumn Jade Hyde, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A Memorial Services will be held for James on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, MD 20705.

Funeral Arrangements were handled by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
