This touching case has gained a lot of attention nationally and with the State wanting to charge her as an adult for her actions facing up to 80 years in prison, Judge Densford ordered she be tried as a juvenile. Part of this decision was based on the girl having the best chance for rehabilitation.

The other 15 year old female juvenile was also sentenced to a juvenile detention facility until she is 21 or released by the courts.

UPDATE 5/30/14: Lauren Bush, the 17 year old charged with assaulting an autistic boy from Chopticon High School will now be tried as a juvenile. Bush appeared before Judge David Densford and he ordered the case to be moved back to the Juvenile level. Bush will remain in a juvenile detention facility until she is sentenced by Judge Michael Stamm next week. Bush like her accomplice the 15 year old could remain in the juvenile detention facility until she is 21 years old.

More details to follow once Bush is sentenced next week.

UPDATE 4/28/14: Last Thursday, Judge Michael Stamm sentenced the 15 year old Juvenile to a maximum of six years in a state juvenile detention center. The 15 year old juvenile, plead guilty to second degree assault and displaying obscene photographs of a boy. Prior to the juvenile being sentenced, she asked Judge Stamm if she can avoid jail time and be placed in a community based treatment program. Judge Stamm denied her request describing her involvements in the case as “horrific” and stated she poses a danger to the community.
The second girl involved in the case Lauren Bush, who is being charged as an adult with 1st degree assault, false imprisonment and child-pornography could face up to 80 years in prison for her actions. She is currently receiving psychological exams as she waits for her hearing.
While continuing the investigation, authorities learned the same two girls had bullied another young disabled boy. However the father wished not to pursue charges against the girls at his son’s request.
