The Calvert BOCC honored Paula Shrawder as the Employee of the Month for January 2012. Paula works in the State’s Attorney’s Office, for the Circuit Court. She is an Office Assistant III. Gail Wikoff, Victim Witness Advocate submitted her nomination.
Paula has been with the State’s Attorney’s Office since August 2009. She has been doing all the tasks including additional ones that had been previously handled by grades 19 and above. These tasks are Violations of Probation, responses to Motions for Reconsideration, Bad Check Letters, and organizing and imputing Grand Jury cases. Her job also entails contact with Parole and Probation, correctional facilities, defense attorneys as well as having a working knowledge of the criminal justice system.
Arriving at the office one hour early, she does all her filing and processes subpoenas so as to be ready to handle the front desk during regular business hours. She volunteers to do paperwork for other employees who are out of the office, such as Writs. Paula rarely takes her one hour lunch break away from the office and when she does, she returns in less than the allotted time.
If reclassifications were now allowed, she would be upgraded at least two grades from her present position. Being there is a freeze on promotions, Paula still does her work cheerfully and voluntarily, and without supervision. Congratulations, Paula!
