Point Farm was the country retreat of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Patterson. In 1983 Mrs. Patterson donated the property to the state, creating Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum. Join us for a guided tour of the 1933 Colonial Revival brick house and gardens designed by noted female architects Gertrude Sawyer and Rose Greely. Harriet Stout, curator of the Chesapeake Beach Railroad Museum, will share the story of Otto Mears’ dream to develop a shoreline resort, its heyday as the destination for Washingtonians fleeing the heat and its demise during the Great Depression. The railroad changed not only the lives of Calvert County residents but also marked the landscape forever. 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Free.

This Annmarie After Hours will be the opening night for My African American Community:  A Collection of Photographs and Stories, 2000-2010. This beautiful exhibit features the photography of William Poe who has spent the last decade documenting the local African American culture. Volunteer crews will be working along roadsides and on selected projects, rain or shine. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the ACLT southside trailhead barn off of Scientists’ Cliffs Road, Port Republic. Many volunteers are needed. Volunteers are invited to join us for a celebratory picnic at noon.

This will be a leisurely guided walk to view spring wildflowers and early migratory birds. Bring your binoculars and meet at 9 a.m. sharp at the ACLT barn on Scientists’ Cliffs Road, Port Republic. Hike will last until approximately 11 a.m., rain or shine unless thunderstorms occur. Dogs are not permitted on guided tours.
