UPDATE: Bear Creek BBQ Up in Smoke

UPDATE 7 p.m.
Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to Bear Creek BBQ located in the 21000 block of Point Lookout Road in Callaway on Thursday, March 29 around 3:45 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene to discover heavy smoke coming from the dwelling. After several minutes of firefighting operations the roof caved in.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Traffic is once again flowing along Rt. 5 as all of the fire equipment has cleared the scene.

 

Traffic Alert: Rt. 5 Blocked due to Building Fire at Bear Creek BBQ

Firefighters in St. Mary’s County are on the scene of a building fire in Callaway.

Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to Bear Creek BBQ located in the 21000 block of Point Lookout Road on Thursday, March 29 around 3:45 p.m.

No word yet on any injuries.

Rt. 5 in Callaway at Grandaddy’s Lane is blocked.  Police are alternating north and southbound traffic at this time. Avoid Rt. 5 in Callaway at this time. Expect major delays.

    maybe the open pit got too hot! Hope damage aint too bad they gots the best meat in the county.

      I work w/one of the fire fighters and he said nobody was hurt..thank God, but oh how we’ll miss this place while it’s closed. The roof is totally gone..yikes!

    GREAT Job by Bay District Volunteers arriving first, knocking the fire fast, and keeping the damage to a minimum!

    We went their one time and the people behind the register were rude and not very inviting. We haven’t gone back since.

    Maybe they were having a bad day.. who knows.
