On September 29, 2014, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 22 year old white female walked into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack to report a rape.
Investigation revealed that the victim was at a residence in the Great Mills area of St. Mary’s County, MD in the earlier morning hours of September 29, 2014. The suspect, James Erwin Henderson, 28 of Lexington Park approached the victim in a bedroom at the residence and sexually assaulted her.
Investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division-Central South responded to the Leonardtown Barrack and assumed the investigation.
After meeting with the victim, investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division located the suspect Henderson at a residence in Lexington Park, MD.
After consulting with States Attorney Richard Fritz, suspect Henderson was charged with Sex Offense-2nd Degree, Sex Offense 4th Degree, Assault-2nd Degree and Unnatural and Perverted Sexual Act.
Henderson was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.
