HAZMAT Team Investigating Unknown White Powder at Clements Residence

UPDATE 9/30/14 @ 2:30 p.m.: HAZMAT responded and after testing the substance, it was determined to be non-hazardous.

9/30/14: On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at approximately 12:30 p.m., police, fire, rescue and HAZMAT units responded to a residence on Victory Lane in Clements for a report of a suspicious package found in the home.

The item was described as an envelope with an”unknown white powdery substance” leaking from it.

The envelope was found inside a night stand inside the residence.

Police and HAZMAT teams are investigating.

Additional Information will be released as it becomes available.

    Why would someone have this in there home? And then call 911?

    Someone probably found heroin in their kids stuff and thought “it can’t be drugs, it must be anthrax that someone planted here to hurt my baby.”

    What about other details… Homeowner called? Landlord called? Was the house being rented?
