Volunteers Needed for Oyster Reef Building set for Sunday, October 5

September 30, 2014

OysterReefOyster Reef Building set for Sunday, October 5 at 9 a.m., at 47171 South Snowhill Manor.

We are looking for volunteers to install concrete rubble for our next oyster reef restoration project in Horseshoe Bend of St. Mary`s River. Please park along the driveway at 47171 South Snowhill Manor in St. Marys City. You will need work gloves, work boots, long pants, hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.

You MUST register in advance for this event. Please contact Bob at 301-904-2387 or email at BobLewis@StMarysRiver.org . We will take the first 25 volunteers – only firm commitments need to reply.

This is heavy work requiring lifting large chucks of concrete; we will load the barge, and then use the barge to reach our destination and place the concrete rubble. Later, we will be placing oyster spat on the reef. This is awesome opportunity to help clean our waters!

As always, we thank you for your help! We could not do this without our wonderful volunteers!
