The Corner Store in Callaway Busted for Drugs and Paraphernalia

September 19, 2011

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office received complaints of illegal drug and drug paraphernalia sales at a Callaway store known as the “Corner Store”.  An investigation led to the execution of a Search and Seizure Warrant. It was revealed that the owner and his employee were selling “K-2” synthetic marijuana, marijuana and crack cocaine smoking devices, digital scales, drug packaging material among other drug related items. Nearly 200 grams of synthetic marijuana were recovered and over 210 smoking devices. Approximately $4,500.00 worth of illegal product was seized. Charges are pending a review with State’s Attorney Richard D. Fritz.

Southern Maryland News Net contacted Captain Daniel D. Alioto, Commander of Vice Narcotics and was told the following “We received a complaint from a citizen about drug paraphernalia being sold by the Corner Store in Callaway. We performed an investigation and were able to secure a Search and Seizure Warrant which we executed on Thursday in that action we found numerous smoking devices for crack cocaine and marijuana, scales and various other drug paraphernalia. In addition to the devices, we discovered approximately 200 grams of synthetic marijuana packaged in 2 to 3 gram packages. In all we seized several thousands of dollars. There were no arrests made during the search and seizure but we will be presenting this evidence to the States Attorney to determine the charges which we should have on Tuesday at which time the arrest warrants will be issued.”

Unfortunately, none of these are ilegal unless they have evidence of actually being used to smoke drugs……. if they are brand new, they are tobacco pipes….. but knowing saint marys county they will break the law and charge them anyway….. hope these people are smart enough not to get railroaded by the states attorney……

Brillo Pads are useful & legal when used for their intended purpose…crack pipes – not so much.

Hals has already been closed for the same thing although I don’t believe that they were raided.

How do the crack heads know where to get their supplies ?
Since the paraphernalia is illegal , it’s not like they can advertise that it is for sale . Or is it that the owners of these stores don’t care about the law ? I say shut them down , for good .

I hope they get shut down too but I doubt they will. Justice is backwards here. This started with people complaining? How is that “probable cause”? I called once and reported someone smoking crack and driving and I was told that it wasn’t a good enough reason to pull them over. Who is winning the war on drugs?
Even if they do get shut down, the crack heads will just go across the street to A&W!

Please don’t tell me that they are selling crack pipes at the A&W !

Yup…They just disguise them as other things.
