Dear Friend,
There are few better ways to celebrate the summer than by enjoying a steaming bucket of Maryland Blue Crabs covered in Old Bay.

That’s why I’m so pleased to share that this year, the Maryland Blue Crab population is at a 19-year high!

This achievement did not happen by itself. Progress is not inevitable; it is the product of responsible choices we make together — choices like protecting 36,281 acres of open space, investing over $63 million into the Bay Trust Fund and supporting our farmers in planting a record number of cover crops.

And I’m pleased to share that together, we continue to make smart choices.

This past session, we passed legislation that will curtail septic pollution, allow us to upgrade our sewage treatment plants and enable local governments to reduce polluted stormwater runoff while creating green jobs.

Thank you and enjoy those Blue Crabs this summer!
