Indian Head Fire Under Investigation

Fire MarshallOn Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at approximately 3:58 pm, firefighters from Marbury, NSWC, Potomac Heights, Nanjemoy, La Plata, Accokeek, Indian Head, Bryans Road, Waldorf, and Bel-Alton Volunteer Fire Departments were alerted to a chimney on fire by a near-by relative.

Crews arrived on the scene at 3830 Highground Farm Place in Indian Head to discover a single family home on fire. Fire departments arrived and began establishing rural water supply operations as they fought to extinguish the fire.

No one was home at the farm house when the fire was discovered by a nearby family member. The owner reportedly left the house earlier in the day with a fire burning in the fireplace.

The house was completely destroyed as a result of the fire and the owner in being assisted by family members. Estimated total loss in the amount of $200,000.00.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
