Vehicle Overturned Leaving Driver Trapped

UPDATE: Authorities in St. Mary’s County are investigating the cause of an accident in Morganza that left one man injured.

Fire and Rescue crews responded to 28975 Point Lookout Road on Wednesday, Oct. 6 around 8:40 a.m. for report of a vehicle overturned with the driver trapped.

Crews arrived on scene to discover an SUV overturned with smoke coming from the vehicle with an elderly male patient trapped inside a 2012 Chevy Equinox. Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons, took out a picnic table and came to a rest in a wooded area. The patient was extricated and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Fire and Rescue Crews in St. Mary’s County are on the scene of a single vehicle accident with the vehicle overturned in the woods and the driver trapped along the 28700 block of Point Lookout Road in the area of Sherrie Lane and Williams Farm Lane in Morganza.

The accident was reported at 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct.6.
