Elise Mary Mire, 91 of Hughesville, MD passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s, Callaway, MD, surrounded by her loving family. She was formerly a resident of St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. Born October 15,1923 in Garland, LA, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Thibodeaux and the late Elise Legier Thibodeaux.
Elise enjoyed ceramics, bowling, bingo and was a successful Avon representative for over 20 years, earning many top sales awards. She shared the love of her Cajun heritage by telling stories, making gumbo, playing and dancing to Cajun music. However, her greatest love was her family, whom she loved spending time with.
Elise was predeceased by her husbands, Charles Wesley Johnson and Erick Sylvester Mire; brothers and sisters, Edith Spire, Sadie Legier, Theresa Legier, Jim, Charles, Ophey, John and Ovile Thibodeaux, grandson Kevin Peterson and great grandson Louis Naef.
She is survived by her children; Beverly Wakeen (Jerry) of Hughesville, MD, Larry Johnson (Melinda) of Fordoche, LA and Thomas Johnson (Diane) of Fordoche, LA. Step children, Emelia Meche (Lubert), Churchpoint, LA, Darrell Mire (Debbie), Biloxi, MI, Jeanette (Joseph) Thibodeaux, Mire, LA, Erick Mire, Jr. (Karen), Mire, LA, Debra Mire, Breaux Bridge, LA and Vickie Pennel (Tom) Erie, PA; sisters, Mary Carstens, Davenport, IA, Juneest Cox, Fordoche, LA and Valdamae Carter, Shreveport, LA; brothers Theodore Thibodeaux, Chicago, IL and Theo Thibodeaux. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 26 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild.
Family will receive friends for Elise’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 5-8 pm with Prayers at 7 pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617, with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Jason Naef, Dave Rosenfield, Steve Bryant, and Michael Stalcup.
