Randy’s Ribs & Barbecue Food Review

One day, while on assignment, I decided to have lunch at Randy’s Ribs and Barbecue. First, it was close to where I was and it was lunchtime. I had eaten Randy’s food at several catered affairs but this was one on one, no special treatment. Pulling into the parking area, I noticed that it was a small building that had picnic tables outside if you were going to eat there. There was nothing but cooking and order taking going on at the window on the front of the building and inside.. Customers were in line and so we joined the queue.

There was no need to get a menu as there were large signs all over the building telling you what they had to offer, including sides and drinks. Randy’s offered breakfast sandwiches all day long. You had a choice of fried or scrambled eggs with scrapple, bacon, ham, sausage or bologna with or without cheese and for a reasonable $3.50.

For lunch and dinner there were sandwiches, dogs (I am guessing hot dogs), burgers, and overstuffed subs, platters, on the bone or by the pound. You could choose pork, beef, chicken, ham, turkey, ribs or chops. They also offered homemade sides of baked beans, Coleslaw, macaroni salad, green beans, collard greens, and Mac ‘n’ cheese. Then there were the usual French fries, onion rings and chili. And to add to the list you had choices of chicken nuggets, Mozzarella sticks or Jalapeño poppers.

If you wanted Randy’s barbecue sauce, (award winning second place in the nation by the National BBQ Association), they will sell you a 16oz. bottle or a gallon jug. The barbecue sauce comes in either original and hot and sweet. And they will also cook a whole pig for your affair.

We gave our order for ½ chicken platter with Coleslaw and French fries and an overstuffed barbequed pork sub with French fries. It didn’t take but a few minutes for our order to come to the window. We chose to eat at one of the picnic tables so we could enjoy the ambience of the area. A small breeze was blowing from the cars passing by on Route 5 but I am not sure on an extremely hot day that I would want to sit at a table, but more likely to take my meal elsewhere. The meals are packaged ready to eat or go.

The meals were extremely good. The chicken was moist and well cooked and the pork was tender. The Coleslaw was fresh, with a little bit of crispness and a great taste. If you needed more sauce there was a large jar with a pump on the condiment table by the window. The food was plentiful so you didn’t leave hungry. There were plenty of napkins available if you wanted to eat with your fingers.

It was worth the trip because of the great food. The prices were extremely reasonable. Randy’s Ribs & Barbecue will cater your wedding, birthday party, retirement party, office party, sporting event or fundraiser.

    The food there is fantastic and theyre barbeque sauce is amazing, i dont know if id say theyre reasonably priced though. Definately worth checking out if youve never been there before, i love that place

    I stopped there to place an order for dinner and discovered they don’t accept plastic payment. I think they could make more customers happy if they took Debit or credit cards. Makes me suspicious about an all cash business thats been here so long and doesn’t take plastic payments. Especially today when most people don’t use cash.

    Always been a fan of their sliced or pulled pork sandwiches, however over the years the price has continued to go up (now $6.25 for sandwich only)and the size of the sandwich has declined significantly. Sauce is second to none without a doubt. I just buy the sauce and make my own stuff with it now cause its too expensive for a afternoon lunch or quick grab in my mind.
