Calvert County Crime Report

During the week of October 22 through October 28 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,602 calls for service throughout the community.

Citizens with information on the following crimes or any criminal activity in Calvert County who wish to report it anonymously can now access the Calvert County Crime Solvers link through the Sheriff’s Office website.

Go to http://www.co.cal.md.us/residents/safety/law/sheriff/ and click on the Crime Solvers link to leave an anonymous tip on-line. Information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect could result in a $1,000 reward.

Burglary Case #12-66068
A home in the 10000 block of Old Mill Drive in Lusby was burglarized during the daytime hours on October 22 with approximately $1200 in items stolen. DFC J. Hardesty is investigating.
Burglary Case #12-66238
Someone stole approximately $1000 of copper piping from the basement of a home on Deane Avenue in Prince Frederick between October 22 and 23. DFC M. Robshaw is handling the investigation.

CDS Violation Case #12-66510
On October 24 at 1:31 p.m. Cpl. J. McCarroll stopped a vehicle for speeding in the southbound lane of Md. Rt. 4 near Doris Drive in Owings. He arrested the driver, Richard Lee Foster, Jr., 27 of Owings, and charged him with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a multi-colored glass smoking device. Foster was also cited for driving on a suspended license.

Theft Case #12-66554
Someone stole a black canvas tool bag containing various tools valued at $100 from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a home on 8th Street in Chesapeake Beach. It happened overnight between October 23 and 24. DFC S. Esposito is investigating.

Destruction of Property Case #12-66777
Someone shot a small dog with a pellet gun while the dog was inside his owner’s fenced-in yard on Vera Court in Lusby. It happened on October 24 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The dog owner said the Pekingese was taken to a veterinarian for medical attention where they told him the dog had been shot in the shoulder. The dog is recovering. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC J. Bell at 410-535-2800.

Theft of Vehicle Case #12-67391
Someone stole a 1997 tan colored Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle from in front of a home on Stephen Reid Road in Huntingtown while the owner was inside at a party on the evening of October 27 into the early morning hours of October 28. Dep. J. Cutchin is investigating.

CDS Violation Case #12-67392
On October 28 at 3:45 a.m. Dep. B. Schaefer was assisting with a vehicle crash that had occurred on Sollers Wharf Road when another vehicle came toward the deputies and failed to stop when ordered to. The vehicle came in close proximity to where the deputies were standing. Dep. Schaefer caught up to the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Everett Lorenzo Ray, IV, 20 of Cheltenham. Ray was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana and use of drug paraphernalia, a clear plastic baggie used to contain marijuana, and unlawfully throwing litter.
