BeFunky_tysonWednesdays Pet for 10/31/12 is Tyson

Featured Pet: Tyson
Rescue Group: Second Hope Rescue
Breed: Great Dane Mix
Sex: Male
Size: Medium to Large
Vetted: Neutered and Up-to-date with routine shots
Adoption Fee: $250.00

Tyson is a 9-month-old male Great Dane mix. He has many Great Dane traits but probably will not have the height of one. Tyson has lived with children and other dogs and does very well with both. He is a little shy due to being left at the shelter. This can be very traumatic to some dogs and it just takes them feeling safe and socializing them to build their confidence back up. Tyson is house trained and beautiful; he is looking for a forever home that will give him the chance he deserves. If you think he would be a great addition to your home please contact

A little bit of breed information:
Great Danes are often called “gentle giants.” They are a charming and affectionate breed, and are known to be playful and patient with children. Great Danes need to be around people. They do not bark much and are reliable and trustworthy.

“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”

I’m fostering Tyson for Second Hope, and he’s definitely coming out of his shell and gaining some confidence. He’s a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and is also extremely smart. We haven’t done a whole lot of training with him, and he’s already got “sit” down cold and has a pretty good idea about “leave it” and “come.” He’s very active, like you’d expect from a dog his age. He’s still wary of new people, especially men, and was pretty scared by the storm. The shelter picture also doesn’t do him justice–we should have a new picture up soon to show what a gorgeous boy he is.
