August 31, 2015

Rocktoberfest 2015, presented by the La Plata Business Association (LPBA) and produced by Island Music Company, announced today that it will promote a designated driver campaign and its message “Be a La Plata hometown hero – Be a designated driver,” at the small-town rock music festival in the heart of the downtown business district of La Plata for music lovers of all-ages on Saturday, October, 3, 2015, from 3 to 10 p.m. at Casey Jones Restaurant and Bar located at 417 E. Charles Street, La Plata, MD.

The purpose of the designated driver campaign is to promote a positive, empowering message of social responsibility for the use of sober designated drivers and to deter underage and drunk driving to help prevent accidents. The campaign is sponsored by Centerpiece Boutique and Design, Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Edward Jones, Edward L. Sanders Insurance Agency, Inc. and La Plata Police Department.

The 2nd Annual Rocktoberfest is free and open to all, offering a lively outdoor gathering place for families and friends with a laid back guitar-centric vibe in the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center Urgent Care Music Festival Tent.

Festival patrons can move between the Island Music Company Main Outdoor Stage and Casey Jones Restaurant & Bar Main Indoor Stage for simultaneous performances by acoustic signer song writers and musicians, playing a diverse range of popular music, including classic and modern rock, blues, country, and pop. The lineup will be headlined by the Paul Reed Smith Band and includes Franklin Square Band, Troy Peterson, Joe Norris, Dr. Robert Band, Rock Bottom, Hometown Band, HUSH MONEY, Flippin’ Eye Lids, Doc Stevens and Pork Donut.

The rock music festival will feature live entertainment, Street Market, modern pub cuisine and specialty beer on tap for purchase, commemorative pint glasses, a raffle grand prize drawing for a Paul Reed Smith® Santana SE Guitar and free lesson voucher. The market will feature a variety of vendors and the Bill Waugh& Associates – Allstate Insurance Kid Zone with activities for kids, including face painting by Kat and 25’ climbing rock wall from 3 – 6 p.m.

Festival patrons of legal drinking age who wish to consume alcohol must present valid identification verified by security personnel and be issued a wristband.
