Hoyer applauded the Cardinal Hickey Academy in Calvert County on being selected as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was founded in 1982 to recognize our nation’s top schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps.

“I am honored to recognize Cardinal Hickey Academy on being one of eight schools in Maryland selected for this outstanding achievement,” said Congressman Steny Hoyer. “All of the teachers, students, staff, and parents at Cardinal Hickey Academy should be extremely proud of this recognition and the work they are doing to prepare our Fifth District future leaders to succeed. I am pleased that Cardinal Hickey is setting a standard of excellence and is committed to their mission of providing an environment where students can achieve academic and personal excellence.”

Cardinal Hickey Academy is a kindergarten through 8th grade Catholic School located in Owings. The school will be presented with an award plaque and a flag at a recognition ceremony in November in Washington, DC.
