2016 Campaign Will Feature Loaded Slate of Promotions Including Fireworks, a Ton of Celebrity Appearances, and More!

BlueCrabsWith less than a month before “Homegrown” opening day, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are excited to announce their 2016 promotional schedule. With a mix of brand new giveaways, 13 fireworks shows, special appearances, a plethora of jersey auctions, affordable daily specials, and community events, the 2016 campaign promises to be the most memorable yet in celebration of the 9th season at Regency Furniture Stadium.

“We listened to the feedback from fans about old promotions and new ideas,” said Blue Crabs General Manager Courtney Knichel. “Coming to a Blue Crabs game is about making memories and having fun, that is what’s important to us!  This promotional schedule guarantees fans do both.”

Lights Over Southern Maryland Fireworks Extravaganzas:

Featuring the most coveted promotion in all of baseball, the Blue Crabs will light up the sky thirteen times during their of Lights Over Southern Maryland Fireworks extravaganzas. Once again, the firework shows will commence after the conclusion of the seventh inning to ensure our younger fans are able to enjoy the festivities! The Blue Crabs are the only minor league baseball team that pauses the game in the 7th inning for the fireworks shows to ensure that little ones are in bed at a decent hour.  Talk about putting fans first!

Celebrity Appearances:

Throughout the 2016 season, there will be plenty of visitors at the ballpark. The Inflatamaniacs will be on hand April 22nd, and will engage fans in fun skits and stories in-between innings. Fans will feel Orioles Magic on May 21st where Orioles Hall of Famer Mike Bordick and current MASN broadcaster will be in attendance. Capitals fans can Rock the Red on June 25th with an appearance by Play-by-Play announcer Joe Beninati. WWE Wrester Mickie James will join the Crabs for Wrestler night at the Ballpark on July 22nd. To conclude the season, National fans will feel the Nattitude on August 19th with an appearance by four time all-star Bob Boone presented by Applebee’s.

Weekly Promotions:

Mondays: Back by popular demand, Bark in the Park returns every Monday Night (excluding July 4th) presented by Perfect Pet Resort. Fans will be able to bring their furry friends to enjoy a night of fun at the Ballpark. Fans can also purchase one dollar hot dogs as part of Bark in the Park Night.

Tuesdays: The first 500 fans can take part in RC Theatres Lexington Exchange Movies 12 Free Popcorn Tuesdays. Fans will receive a voucher good for one small popcorn as they enter the gates into Regency Furniture Stadium. The Hearing Professionals Silver Sluggers Club will also be back for its 8th season.  Fans 50 and older can sign up for the club where members receive a ticket for every Tuesday game and a t-shirt for a low price of just $25!

Wednesdays: Coors Light presents Can-Do Wednesday Picnic Parties!  From 5:30 until halfway through the fifth inning, fans can purchase 12 oz. Coors Light cans in the picnic area for just $3.  In addition to the refreshments, fans will be able to enjoy a live band or DJ each Wednesday night of the season in the picnic party.

Thursdays: Fans will enjoy the return of Foster’s Grille Wings and Beer Night at the Ballpark. For the low price of $30, fans can enjoy the game from the Legends Club, while also having access to two-hour all-you-can-eat wings and all-you-can-drink beer.

Fridays: Thanks to the generous support of Chick-fil-A of Charles County and the St. Charles Companies, Salute the Troops night will honor all the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. Returning for the 2016 season will be the chance to win a house with our Home Sweet Homers contest presented by Marrick Homes, Southern Trust Mortgage, Southern Maryland Title, & EXIT Landmark Realty. If a Blue Crabs player hits a homerun in the designated spot, one lucky fan will win a $300,000 house.

Saturdays: The Blue Crabs will host their famous post-game party on the field. For fifteen minutes, fans can play catch on the outfield grass, meet players for autographs, and dance to rocking music. Returning for the 2016 season will be the chance to win a house with our Home Sweet Homers contest presented by Marrick Homes, Southern Trust Mortgage, Southern Maryland Title, & EXIT Landmark Realty. If a Blue Crabs player hits a homerun in the designated spot, one lucky fan will win a $300,000 house.

Sundays: Family Days return to the Blue Crabs on Sundays. There will be a full team autograph session between 1:00 and 1:20, kids can play free in Pinch’s Playground, and kids will be able to run the bases post-game.  Sunday afternoons will also feature the Chick-fil-A Backfin Buddies club members.  Fans under 12 can become part of the Chick-fil-A Backfin Buddies club where members receive an awesome Blue Crabs gift pack and a ticket to every Sunday game.

Community Outreach: Thankful Tuesdays:

The Blue Crabs are excited to introduce Thankful Tuesdays to the 2016 promotional line-up. Every Tuesday Home Game will benefit a different charity. Donations of various items for each charity will be accepted at the Box Office. Each fan that donates an item will be entitled to one (1) five dollar field box ticket, as a thank you from the Blue Crabs. A list of acceptable items can be found on the Blue Crabs website a week before each game.

Special Start Times:

The Blue Crabs will have special start times for Baseball in Education Days on April 27th and May 18th. With a 10:35 a.m. start time, students from schools have the opportunity to enjoy a day of baseball with educational activities in Geography, Science, Math, and Social Studies.

Additional special start times include a Saturday Doubleheader as part of opening weekend on April 23rd at 6:05 p.m., Business Person Appreciation Day on June 2nd at 12:05 p.m., and Day Camp and Recreation day on August 3rd at 11:05 a.m.

Red, White, and Blue Crabs Fourth of July:

Spend America’s Birthday with America’s favorite pastime. The Blue Crabs and Charles County have teamed up to create a fun holiday at the Ballpark. Join the Celebrate Charles event for free music, vendors, and activities in the parking lot of Regency Furniture Stadium. Then, enjoy an evening of baseball as the Blue Crabs challenge the Somerset Patriots, which will include a fireworks extravaganza sure to wow fans of all ages.

Other Notable Promotions:

May 7th—Enjoy Yoga Night at the Ballpark Presented by the Studio Cooperative. Fans young and old can participate in pre-game yoga classes and they can take part in fun yoga activities in between innings and learn about yoga studios in our local community.

June 11th—Veterans Appreciation Day presented by SAIC will include a Hat Giveaway for the first 1,000 Fans and a fabulous fireworks display after the conclusion of the 7th inning.

July 9th—Back by popular demand, the Blue Crabs are excited to bring back Star Wars Night at the Ballpark, benefiting the Children’s Aid Society of Charles County. Fans will be able to take pictures and interact with their favorite Star Wars Characters.

August 20th—Fans will have a chance to win $10,000 with the Winning Inning presented by the Maryland Lottery. Each inning will have a task that the Blue Crabs need to complete, such as a triple play, scoring seven runs, etc.  If the Blue Crabs complete the task in that inning, one lucky fan is leaving with $10,000.
