Ridge Man Arrested After Making a False Statement to Police at the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident

terry kent jr false statement arrestTerry Kent Jr., 26 of Ridge was arrested on Saturday, April 23, 2016 and charged with making a false statement to an officer, and numerous motor vehicle violations.

Two weeks earlier on Saturday, April 9, Kent was involved in a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Three Notch Road, in Ridge.

According to court documents, Deputy T. Sicilian of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded the the accident scene to investigate and made contact with Erica Queen and Terry Kent Jr.

Queen originally told police, she was driving the Ford Explorer, and Kent was in the passenger seat.

During the investigation police were approached by a citizen who told them Queen was not the driver.

The driver of the Yukon Struck by Kent, told police “there was only one occupant in the vehicle which was a male”.

As the investigation continued, Queen admitted was not driving, and told police she was not in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Police continued to question Kent, who was uncooperative and began yelling, “he doesn’t know who was driving, all he knows is he wasn’t driving, and that’s what matter”

Kent was revoked and suspended at the time of the accident.

Kent is currently incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Adult Detention Center with bail was set at $40,000.
