Knife-Wielding Great Mills Woman Attacks Woman in Car, Charged with Assault

On October 23, 2017 at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a victim of a reported assault that took place 45 minutes earlier at the Stardust Lounge in Mechanicsville. The female victim told responding officers that she was assaulted.by the defendant, Chanel Denise Reeves, 27 of Great Mills.

The victim stated she was in the parking lot of the establishment and singing in the passenger seat of a friend’s vehicle, when Reeves followed her and entered the vehicle through the open driver’s door in an attempt to attack her. While the victim did not see a knife at the time Reeves entered the car, she quickly noticed that Reeves was wielding a knife.

Reeves started thrusting her hand aggressively towards the victim in a stabbing motion. The victim stated the defendant’s boyfriend restrained the defendant and removed her from the car. During this time, Reeves repeatedly attempted to break free and continue attacking the victim with the knife.

The victim expressed extreme fear of Reeves, believing that she was attempting to kill or seriously injure her.

Chanel Reeves was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 2, 2018 at the St. Mary’s District Court.
