Prince George’s County Police Department Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian in Oxon Hill

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run in Oxon Hill.

The victim is identified as 27-year-old Kenard Hawkins of no fixed address. Investigators are still working to locate the striking vehicle. It’s described as a white pickup truck that had a ladder on the top or side.

On February 8th, at about 7:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of St. Barnabas Road and Wheeler Road for the report of a pedestrian collision. The victim was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.

The preliminary investigation indicates the pickup truck was turning left onto Wheeler Road from eastbound St. Barnabas Road when it struck the victim who was in a crosswalk.
