UPDATE: Wayne Darnell Somerville, Jr. 31, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement with an Armed Robbery in Lexington Park.

Somerville and his co-defendant, wife-Samantha Ann Somerville 30, snatched an innocent victim’s purse after assaulting the victim by spraying mace into her face.

sentencing for Samantha Ann Somerville is scheduled for the end of this month.

State’s Attorney Richard Fritz prosecuted both cases.

2/21/2019: On February 20, 2019, at approximately 11:40 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 21800 block of North Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported robbery.

Investigation determined the female victim exited a business and was confronted by a female, later identified as Samantha Ann Somerville, 30 with no fixed address. Somerville asked the victim a question and then attempted to take the victim’s purse.  The victim did not relinquish the purse, at which time Somerville sprayed the victim in the face with Mace.  Somerville then gained control of the victim’s purse, at which time she and a male, later identified as Wayne Darnell Somerville Jr., 31 with no fixed address, fled the area on foot.

A citizen in the area observed the commotion and pursued the suspects to an area business.  Corporals Vincent Pontorno and Timothy Snyder arrived on scene and conducted a check of the business, locating Samantha and Wayne Somerville in the restroom.  A check of the restroom revealed clothing discarded in the trash consistent with both the victim and witness’ description of what the suspect was wearing during the robbery, as well as the victim’s wallet hidden in the back of the toilet. The victim’s credit card was located in Wayne Somerville’s jacket, and Mace was located in Samantha Somerville’s backpack and Wayne Somerville was also found to have a can of Mace.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with the following:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Robbery
  • Assault Second Degree
  • Theft
  • Malicious Destruction of Property

Samantha and Wayne Somerville are currently incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center on a no bond status.

Love how the dude gets 15 years but this girl has yet to see trial. Hmmm…wonder why that is. Look her up on the case search. She got a rap sheet a mile long. #whiteprivilege.

Looks like you two will finally be going away for all of the horrible things you have done. See you in hell.

    • concerned on February 22, 2019 at 7:23 am

Doubt it. Both have family members with connections. Armed robbery carries a 20 year max, most likely these two addicts get 1 year of local time.

      • Anonymous on September 9, 2019 at 3:30 pm

Armed robbery also carries a minimum sentence of 5 years

How is it that these two outstanding individuals found each other. Sounds like they deserve each other and the crappy life they have created for themselves. 10 years in prison might give them both some time to mature and reflect on how much of a turd they both are.

  4. cantbelievethis on February 21, 2019 at 4:45 pm

oh my god.. this is so unbelievable. never though they will do this. went school with both of them. they r good people unless they are addicted to something like drugs. she have full custody of all 3 kids and her baby daddy is a pos father\person.

Again, for the millionth time. People who commit these crimes are NOT good people. They just arent. Maybe at one point they were, but they turned the corner on being good people long ago. Cant they come back to being good people? Yeah, of course, if they want to. But at present, they are terrible people

      • Done Deal on September 10, 2019 at 6:04 am

        You’re half right.

But “no” they won’t ever be coming back to become “good people”.

Character is developed long before this age in their maturity.

They are tried and true POS now – a life-long commitment.

      • Tee on September 10, 2019 at 1:56 pm

glad you never made a mistake. its been hard for her, she has three kids and the real father is not a good dude, then the stepdad isn’t either. so you all sit there and judge this poor woman. has been through hell and more.

  6. buddy on February 21, 2019 at 8:26 pm

Wayne is gonna be a “mark” in prison. I’m worried about how he will handle it all. May have to get on the belt loop to survive.

    • Little Jess Smollett on September 10, 2019 at 6:11 am

Who was “worried about” his victim “handling it”?

When that snout-ringed sow of his was spraying pepper in their face while robbing them, he should have envisioned his future on the belt loop then.

Now he can practice kneeling and bending for Bubba and daddy.

For his ring snout wife, no issue – she will get off free.

      Just how it works unfortunately.

I’ve known them for years. Everyone get off of their case. Addiction is a disease. Someone needs to get them help and get them back on their feet.

    • Dumb and Dumber on February 23, 2019 at 7:31 pm

Addiction is a choice, you liberals get dumber by the minute, drug users are never responsible for their own actions. By the way, what color is the sky in your world?

      • Holder on February 24, 2019 at 8:25 pm

So says the white middle class guy who has never done a hard day’s work.

        • Anonymous on February 25, 2019 at 2:13 pm

So these two turds were just putting in a hard days work? I agree with the OP, addiction starts out as a choice. As for my work history, at their age I was working 2 jobs and working the local fields stacking hay and tobacco. I was taking 1 class a semester toward an IT degree because that was all I had time for and could afford. I was never the smartest person but I was always a hard worker and determined that I wanted to do something with my life. Drugs were never an option because they wasted time and money I didn’t have. I have plenty of money now in my mid 40’s but I still have no desire to do drugs. I will leave that to the weak people that can’t take reality and that life is sometimes tough.

          • Jarnell Stokes on February 28, 2019 at 11:19 am

Yeah, right! LOL One thing is for certain, you don’t know one thing about me, fool!

        • Anonymous on February 25, 2019 at 7:12 pm

Nah. I’m 70% black and I agree that addiction is NOT a “disease.” It’s a choice that someone made and as a result, they became addicted to illegal substances. If that person isn’t doing anything to overcome the addiction and live a sober life then they simply don’t care if they ever get off of the drugs. If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Plain and simple.

          • Method Manz on February 28, 2019 at 11:23 am

You also 100% wrong. Addiction is a disease. Some people drink beer their whole life and never become addicted. Some drink and their body wants more and more. They can’t control their behavior on the substance. Same reason some folks get on pain pills and get right off after the surgery…some become addicted just like Brett Favre did. They have proven not everyone is wired the same way.

          • Anonymous on September 12, 2019 at 2:03 am

If they are drinking beer their whole life? You need to quantify this. If their drinking a 6 pack everyday, then they’re addicted.

        • James on September 9, 2019 at 4:31 pm

Well I work hard every day and support my family and other people who need a hand and I’m not out here robbing robbing people.Yeah tired of that excuse it’s an addiction. Only because you want it to be.

      • Her face is the only disease on February 25, 2019 at 8:32 am

        Yep – Second ya.

    • Joe on February 24, 2019 at 6:40 pm

Addiction is a disease? How do you catch addiction? How do you keep from catching it? Weird. None of my family members have caught this disease. Maybe taking Vitamin C and Echinacia keeps you from getting it?

    • Bill on February 25, 2019 at 8:03 am

Even if addiction isn’t a choice, pepper spraying an innocent citizen in the face to fuel your habit instead of say shoplifting damn sure is. that’s a pretty big line to cross. Exactly how much “off their cases” is society supposed to be okay with?

    • Anonymous on February 25, 2019 at 8:20 am

F that addiction is a disease sh!t. Unless they were forced to take those drugs they are responsible for their own misery. They either partied until they were addicted, were prescribed it for something and took more then what they should have or took it after a doctor cut them off. Doing what they do is no different then a nymphomaniac having unprotected sex with everyone at an Aids clinic then crying because they got Aids. Even if it is a disease are we supposed to sit back and let trash like them rob who they want, take what they want, and hurt who they want? If they want to kill themselves with drugs I could care less but what they are doing now is involving innocent people.

      • Anonymous on September 9, 2019 at 8:06 pm

        Amen

    • Anonymous on February 25, 2019 at 1:30 pm

Since you know them and you want them to get help, how about this… open YOUR home to them and YOU get them help and back on their feet! Addiction may become a disease, but they made the decision to start, no matter how it started, it was a choice. Why don’t we give the same care and concern to people who have diseases that didn’t start with a choice, like cancer!?! Stop enabling these people by providing them excuses and if you feel they’re good people, then YOU take the initiative. Quit posting on here and take action to help them.

    • Maximus on February 25, 2019 at 1:38 pm

I have always wondered how many addicts have never made the choice to use addicting drugs? I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess the numbers is probably very low…

Making the choice to use drugs is the problem. I feel bad that people end up in this situations where they do just about everything possible to fuel the habbit, but its a self inflicted wound and I have absolutely no sympathy for them. Save your BS of “you would change your mind if you had family addicted, blah blah blah”. No I wouldnt. Dont be a loser and you wont have to worry about it

    • Dr. Dudley Dowright on February 26, 2019 at 7:58 am

Diabetes is a disease. A disease is something you have no choice in dealing with. Cancer (not caused by smoking), etc. Disease is when something happens to someone’s body through no fault of their own.
      HIV – A choice (usually)
      Drugs – A choice
Hep C, through usage of dirty needles – A choice
DUI, DWI, drug possession, addiction – A choice.

      Any questions?

        Well said DOC

It is NOT a disease. You don’t “catch it” unaware. YOU DECIDE TO DO IT. THEN YOU DECIDE TO STEAL INSTEAD OF WORK.

Funny you call out “white middle class” as never working, when it is that VERY SAME CLASS that has paid for your welfare and section 8 housing with their taxes.

On average a study from the University of Michigan found that women received 63% less time than men for the same crime. Why haven’t the equal rights protestors taken on this inequality?
