Accident in Waldorf Leads to Charges, Driver in Serious Condition

MSP-150x150On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 10:45p.m., Maryland State Troopers responded to MD Rt. 229 at Captain Dement Road in Waldorf for a reported single motor vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation revealed the operator/single occupant of the vehicle, Eric Anthony Counts, 40 of Waldorf, was operating a 2001 black Ford Expedition bearing. The vehicle was traveling at a speed greater than reasonable for the current weather conditions. The driver lost control, went off road, hit a tree stump and was ejected. The vehicle continued to travel, overturned and then came to rest against a tree. The driver was not wearing his seat belt.

Counts was transported to Prince George’s Hospital with serious but nonlife threatening injuries.

The Investigating Trooper also determined that Counts was under the influence of alcohol and was charged accordingly.

    He should also have a ‘failure to wear seat belt’ as well.
