The museum is open and free to the public. Bob Augustine, Terri Nevins, Sam Bauman and Anneliese Augustine combine their talents as Harmony Grit in a “musaic” of beautiful harmonies complimented by guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjolele, bass, harmonica and cello. The band will perform at 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy a free behind-the-scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that houses more than 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. The guided tour allows visitors to get up close and personal with conservators and collections. Reservations are not required.

Explore one of the lesser known Calvert County Natural Resource Division areas – the Biscoe Gray Heritage Farm. Hike through the woods to search for vernal pools and streams fed by spring rains while looking for spring wildflowers and amphibians along the way. Wear rain boots and clothes that can get muddy. This hike may not be suitable for children under 5 years old and it will be off-trail on uneven ground.

Point Farm was the country retreat of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Patterson. In 1983 Mrs. Patterson donated the property to the state in honor of her late husband, creating Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum. Enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful 1933 Colonial Revival brick house and gardens designed by noted female architects Gertrude Sawyer and Rose Greely. Ages 10 and over.

Greg Bowen, who grew up on a tobacco farm in Calvert County, will share the surprising progress and challenges in the local food movement in Southern Maryland. This will be a great opportunity to learn where to find local food sources and get the latest news about the local food movement. Bowen helped create the Calvert County Sustainable Agriculture Awards, helped sponsor numerous agricultural workshops and helped form a local foods group called Calvert Eats Local. Retiring after 32 years with the Calvert County Department of Planning and Zoning, Bowen formed and directs Land Stewardship Solutions LLC.

Taste of Solomons is a one-day food festival showcasing the many wonderful places to eat in this lovely waterfront community. Food and drink tickets are only $4 each and are available at each participating restaurant. As an added feature this year, most restaurants will participate in a gift certificate prize program. Some of the tickets at each location will be designated as prize winners and the lucky purchaser will be awarded a gift certificate for future use at the respective restaurant.
