St. Mary's Nursing CenterMeeting the Needs of Family Members is an Important Part of Quality Patient Care

Family members show their gratitude by donating a “Quiet Room” at St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Families understand the needs of other families.

“We are Committed to Excellence”
Once again St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, (formerly St. Mary’s Nursing Center) is leading the way. Providing quality care means understanding the needs of the family, not just the resident.

The dedication of the “Quiet Room” marks the end of a year-long project. The idea of having a place within the nursing center where family members can go to relax and reflect is nothing new, though few nursing centers get to make it a reality. The idea was first presented by Mrs. Marian Blair, as a loving way to honor the memory of her late husband Matthew Blair.

Matthew Blair was a resident at St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for several years. Mrs. Blair presented her idea of having her husband’s former room at the nursing center converted to a “Quiet Room,” where families can sit in private, visit or just relax. In addition to the Blair Family, the project was supported by the Goddard Family, in memory of Margaret Goddard, who was also a resident at the nursing center. Both families worked tirelessly and with the added support of the local chapter of NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees), the “Quiet Room” has the look and comfortable feel of being at home.

For the Blair and Goddard families, the support and devotion they showed in making this wonderful space available to other families is ashining example of the special relationships created when families appreciate the outstanding care their loved-ones receive at St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center continues to distinguish itself as a quality provider and offering a tradition of excellence. Our community needs to know we are here and we care.Contact: Cynthia Parker 21585 Peabody Street St. Mary’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Leonardtown, MD 20650 Phone: 301.475.8000 Fax: 3014755828 or email:  cparker@smnci.org
