Hoyer on Establishment of Commission on Election Reform

March 29, 2013

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statment after President Obama signed an executive order establishing the Commission on Election Reform:

“I am pleased that President Obama signed an executive order today establishing the Commission on Election Reform. As the commission takes shape, I will be following the process very closely and with great interest. Under the skilled leadership of Bob Bauer and Ben Ginsberg, it will be absolutely essential that the commission consults early and often with civil and disability rights organizations that have made improving voter access and reducing barriers to voting a central pillar of their missions. Unjustifiably long lines at the polls are only one of several problems that plagued the election process in 2012 and created obstacles for citizens seeking to exercise their most fundamental right: to register to vote and cast a ballot.

“It is my hope that the commission will build on the bipartisan foundation established by the Help America Vote Act of 2002, and, in particular, focus on how the Federal Election Assistance Commission can be reenergized to help state and local election officials and voting rights advocates improve basic access to our American democracy.”

Give us a break. This entire commission is a fake gambit for the democrats to try to find ways to use tax dollars to increase black turnout, and instead if calling them in it, the GOP goes along for fear the commission will be worse without them than with them. Remember the 102 year old Obama whines about having to stand in line? The media never points out that she felt like voting on the first day of many many days the polls were open in her state. The Dems wanted her to so they could have a sob story and Obama invited her to the state if the union to make a big stink so they could get the polls open even more days so they could drag people who otherwise would not bother to the polls. She could also have voted absentee or the next day or the day after that. Yes we need ID at the polls and no poll watchers who vote six times like the Democrat in Ohio. And how many precincts in Philly had zero Romney votes? 17? Not even one by accident? Yeah, right. Hoyer, quit Congress. You are a decent man underneath but you get caught up in too much unsavory, unethical crap pushing party over country.

Oh, I get it. Everything is a conspiracy against you and the Republicans. Also, the Democrats control everything to make this conspiracy work. I wish you had explained this earlier to me. I could have skipped 17 years of going to school learning facts.

TerryReport, I mentioned facts. You attributed fake statements to me and criticized them. Wow. You can attack fake stuff. The world is SO impressed.

JH, I concur with most of what you said but you forgot to mention the votes from the dead and illegal aliens which this administration likes to refer to as “undocumented immigrants”
