The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society presents: A Renaissance Christmas with guest performance by the Schubert Singers
This Christmas season the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society will present A Renaissance Christmas, under the direction of Michael Santana and Leroy Pressley. The concert will feature works from the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods as well as more modern works in the style of the those eras. Many traditional favorites will be performed as well as more modern works (Eric Whitacre’s Lux Arumque, and Randall Thompson’s Alleluia) to provide the audience with a sense of how musical styles have changed, while remaining true to their roots.
They will be joined by the Schubert Singers, a well-known local concert choir for children under the direction of Angela Garvey and Paula Fitzgerald. The Schubert Singers was founded in 2003 to offer to the children of Southern Maryland the opportunities to learn the art and experience the joy of choral singing.
The concerts will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday December 15, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Both performances will be at the College of Southern Maryland Fine Arts Center, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata, Maryland. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors, military, and youth. Tickets can be purchased at the door (cash/check/credit card) or reserved by calling Carol Charnock at 301-642-0594
