Flash Flood Watch in Effect from NOON today through this Evening

September 11, 2011

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR  ALL OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND  FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING

*SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING. WHILE RAINFALL WITHIN THUNDERSTORMS GENERALLY SHOULD NOT EXCEED AN INCH… RECENT HEAVY RAINS ACROSS THE BALTIMORE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA SUGGEST THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO PROMPT NEW FLASH
FLOODING CONCERNS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
