Gerald Francis Balenger, Sr., 78 of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away November 27, 2013 at his daughter’s residence. Born March 24, 1935 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Theodore Hiram Balenger and Gertrude Estelle Stone Balenger.
He was a retired union painter for District Council 51 Local 368, Washington, D.C. In his earlier days Gerald was a pro circuit professional duckpin bowler. He loved to garden and could make anything grow. Known for his great sense of humor, he communicated well with everyone. His special love was his family.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents and wife, Janice Balenger. He is survived by children, Gerald Balenger, Jr., Mark Balenger and April Davis; brothers, Jim Balenger, Joe Balenger, Mike Balenger and Steve Balenger; sisters, Doris Thompson and Shirley Meader; seven grandchildren, Charlie, Travis, Michael, Damian, Stephanie, Amanda, and Jeanie; and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for Gerald’s Life Celebration on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. An American Legion prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Brinsfield- Echols Funderal Home, P.A., Fr. Michael E. Tietjen will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617.
