Two Charged with Possession Along Great Mills Road

On  Monday, Sept. 12, at 3:40 p.m. State Police Cpl. Laney conducted a traffic stop on Great Mills Road in the area of the Chesapeake Public Charter School.

Cpl. Laney stopped a Dodge Intrepid occupied by two males.  After questioning the subjects,  it was determined that Kenneth Michael Woodburn, 22 of Leonardtown, was wanted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office for  Second Degree Burglary. As police called for backup to transport Woodburn, Woodburn was exiting the vehicle when his ID and a bag of suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance was in plain view, at which time a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. As the trunk was opened, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. A search of the trunk revealed a  bag of marijuana , two scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Following the search of the vehicle, the driver identified as Demetris Wendell Dickens, 19 of Piney Point, was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS. Woodburn, the passenger was also charged with Possession of CDS. The vehicle was seized and transported to a local MSP facility.
