The following is a sample of recent St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrests and investigations
Assault- On January 25, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park, for a reported assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who advised the suspect Joseph Xavier Young, age 27, of Leonardtown, had assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the stomach several times, as well as strangling the victim, and closing the victim’s hand in the car door. Young was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Theft- On January 25, 2018, DFC. Pontorno was able to identify Tyrell Lamar Douglas, age 20, of Lexington Park, as an individual that was involved in a theft the previous day where food items were taken from a business in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park. Douglas was charged via criminal citation for Theft. (No Photograph Available) |
Contraband- On January 25, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, for a report of contraband. Investigation revealed Shawn Michael Clarke, age 35, of Mechanicsville, had hidden cigarettes on his person. Clarke was charged with Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement. |
Assault- On January 25, 2018, Cpl. Knott responded to the 27000 block of Budds Creek Road, in Mechanicsville, for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Keandre Mion Brown, age 18, of Mechanicsville, assaulted the victim by spitting on the victim as well as scratching the victim in the face. Brown was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Trespassing- On January 25, 2018, DFC. Pontorno observed Philip Jerome Ford, age 61, of Lexington Park, in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park, after Ford was served a no trespassing order. Ford was charged with Trespassing via a criminal citation. |
Assault- On January 21, 2018, DFC. Steinbach responded to the 37000 block of Louis Bailey Road, in Avenue, for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival contact was made with two individuals who advised they were both assaulted by William Joseph Kemp Jr., age 26, of Avenue during an argument and also advised Kemp Jr. had destroyed property as well. Both victims displayed signs of assault; Kemp Jr. was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Malicious Destruction of Property. |
Assault- On January 21, 2018, DFC. D. Smith responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center regarding an assault. Investigation revealed both inmates/suspects assaulted each other while in an argument about the TV remote. Diamante Raquan Butler, age 19, of Lexington Park, and Mark Steven Garner, age 29, of Suffolk, VA, were both charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault 1st Degree- On January 22, 2018, Cpl. Foor responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Lane, in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault involving a handgun. Investigation revealed the suspect Anthony Lydell Green, age 56, of Lexington Park, and the victim were in an argument about a vacuum cleaner. Green, then produced a handgun, and made threats to kill the victim. Green was located, arrested, and charged with Assault 1st Degree. |
Assault- On January 22, 2018, Dep. Bare responded to the 21000 block of Liberty Street in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed the victim was assaulted by David Alexander Young, age 22, of Lexington Park, and suffered injury from the suspect throwing the victim to the ground. Young was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Disorderly Conduct- On January 24, 2018, Shawn Michael Miles, age 25, of Lexington Park, was observed panhandling in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park. When Miles was approached by Cpl. Snyder, he became belligerent and began yelling and cursing, drawing customers’ attention and disturbing patrons. Miles was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct. |
Theft- On January 24, 2018, Cpl. Snyder and DFC. Pontorno responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park, for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed Devonte Twain Harrod, age 18, and Breanna Rose Fenwick, age 19, both of Lexington Park, attempted to pass all points of sale with various items of food. Fenwick and Harrod were charged via criminal citations for Theft. (No Photographs Available) |
DUI/Weapons Violation- On January 18, 2018, Dep. Molitor responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 20000 block of Pt. Lookout Road, in Callaway; the reported at fault vehicle in the accident was in the process of fleeing the scene. Upon arrival, Dep. Molitor located the at fault vehicle disabled a short distance away from the scene. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle, Charles Ray McElhaney, age 62, of Tall Timbers. McElhaney was ultimately arrested for Driving Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving While Impaired. Inventory search of McElhaney’s vehicle was conducted prior to it being towed from the scene; a handgun was located under the passenger seat of the vehicle; ammunition was located inside the vehicle as well, and an open bottle of whiskey was also found in the vehicle. McElhaney was additionally charged with Carrying a Handgun in a Vehicle. |
Assault- On January 19, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 46000 block of Ellenbee Court, in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival contact was made with a victim who displayed visible injury from an assault. Investigation revealed Suspect Brian O’Neal Johnson, age 31, of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the face several times. Johnson was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault/CDS/Resisting Arrest- On January 19, 2018, Cpl. O’Connor responded to the 48000 block of Keel Drive, in Lexington Park, to locate a critically missing person. Upon arrival officers were let into the residence by an individual who had visible signs of injury to their face. The victim advised the injuries were caused by Suspect Crystal Lynn Magtutu, age 30, of Clements. Contact was made with Magtutu who was uncooperative and would not allow herself to be taken into custody. Magtutu was ultimately taken into custody and numerous pills suspected to be Flexeril were located on her person in an unlabeled prescription bottle. Magtutu was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest. |
Burglary/Assault- On January 19, 2018, DFC. D. Smith responded to the 26000 block of Holt Lane in reference to an in progress burglary/assault. Upon arrival DFC. Smith observed Suspect Shaun Sylvester Johnson, age 37, with no fixed address, leaving the residence. DFC. Smith took Johnson into custody at which time Johnson became combative; Johnson was ultimately arrested. Investigation revealed Johnson had assaulted the victim earlier in the evening, and later came to the victim’s residence and forced his way into the residence. Johnson was charged with Home Invasion, Burglary 4th Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Theft, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest. |
Drug Arrest- On January 13, 2018, Sgt. Merritt conducted a traffic stop in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park. After making contact with the operator of the vehicle, Tyquan Samuel Wills, age 18, of Lexington Park, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded suspected marijuana. Wills was arrested and charged with CDS Poss-Marijuana 10GM+. |
Assault- On January 13, 2018, Dep. Nauman responded to the 21000 block of Manon Way, in California, for a reported assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who had a laceration to the hand, and bruising to the neck. According to the victim, the injuries had been caused by Suspect Lynn Elizabeth O’Quinn, age 51, of California. O’Quinn was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault- On January 14, 2018, Cpl. Foor responded to the 49000 block of Fresh Pond Road, in Scotland, for a reported assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who advised Tyler Deshun Roberts, age 23, of Scotland, had assaulted the victim. Investigation revealed Roberts had strangled the victim, bit the victim in the face, and also used a kitchen knife to cut the victim’s wrist. Roberts was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree. |
Animal Cruelty/Resisting Arrest- On January 16, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 21000 block of Ranger Road, in Lexington Park, for a suspected animal cruelty. Upon arrival DFC. Schultz observed a female dog who had recently had a litter; DFC. Schultz was able to see the animals ribs protruding, and the dog appeared malnourished. Further investigation revealed numerous young puppies all appearing malnourished, and one had an open wound on its tail which did not appear to have been treated. Animal Control was on scene and a total of eight dogs were removed from the home. Suspect Joseph William Smith, age 24, of Lexington Park, was determined to be the owner of the animals. Upon the animals being removed from the home, Smith became combative and began hindering the investigation. Smith was placed under arrest and charged with the following: 8 counts of Animal Cruelty, Obstructing & Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, Resist/Interfere with Arrest, and Sale of Puppy or Kitten. |
Assault- On January 16, 2018, DFC. McCuen responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, in Leonardtown, for a reported assault. Investigation revealed Duron Matthew Chase, age 30, of Leonardtown, and Francis Xavier Hill, age 21, with no fixed address, had a confrontation during which both Hill and Chase assaulted each other. Hill and Chase were both charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault- On January 17, 2018, Cpl. Kirkner responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Brian Yancey Sampson age 37, of Mechanicsville, assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the face. Sampson was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Drug Arrest- On January 10, 2018, Cpl. O’Connor was transporting Suspect Mysean James Fox, age 29, of Washington, DC, to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, on a Prince George’s County Warrant for CDS- Possession with Intent to Distribute. While transporting Fox, it was revealed he had hidden CDS in his underwear. Upon arrival at the detention center an additional search was conducted which revealed a baggie containing suspected cocaine. Fox was charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana |
Drug Arrest- On January 10, 2018, DFC. D. Smith responded to the 30000 block of Three Notch Road, in Charlotte Hall, regarding a welfare check of a driver who had fallen asleep at the fuel pumps. Upon arrival, DFC. Smith observed a knife and pill container in the driver’s lap. The driver of the vehicle was later determined to be Derrick Aubin Burch, age 29, of Hughesville. Further investigation also revealed numerous pills inside the vehicle. Burch was arrested for CDS: Possession Not Marijuana. |
Assault- On January 7, 2018, Dep. Budd responded to the 21000 block of Chancellors Run Road, in Great Mills, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who displayed injuries; the victim advised the injuries were caused by Suspect Tony Sylvester Thompson, age 46, of Great Mills. According to the victim, Thompson tackled the victim to the ground causing injury to the victim’s face and elbow. Thompson was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Weapons Violation/Trespassing- On January 8, 2018, in the 23000 block of Great Mills Road, located in Great Mills, DFC. Gaskill became aware of a trespasser who was riding his bicycle through the hallways. DFC. Gaskill contacted the suspect and identified him to be Donte James Jeter-Prince, age 19, of Lexington Park. Subsequent to arrest Jeter-Prince was found to be in possession of a folding knife. Jeter-Prince was arrested and charged with Trespass on school grounds, Dangerous Weapon on School Property, and Dangerous Weapon Conceal. |
Violation of Protective Order- On January 9, 2018, Cpl. Reppel responded to the 41000 block of Shadrick Street, located in Leonardtown, for a reported protective order violation. Upon arrival |
Attempting to Elude Uniformed Police- On January 9, 2018, Dep. Holdsworth was in the 38000 block of Golden Beach Road, in Mechanicsville, when he observed a vehicle he knows to be operated by an individual with outstanding warrants. Dep. Holdsworth was able to positively identify the vehicle was being operated by Suspect Jessy James Snead, age 39, of California, who had an outstanding felony warrant. Dep. Holdsworth attempted to stop the vehicle, at which time the suspect refused to stop and continued to Route 5; the suspect then continued to travel north into Charles County where he was ultimately stopped and taken into custody. Snead was served the outstanding Violation of Probation Warrant/Armed Robbery; he was also charged with Attempting to Elude Uniformed Police by Failing to Stop and Elude Police by Failing to Stop Vehicle. |
Theft- On January 5, 2018, Cpl. Carberry responded to the 40000 block of Merchants Lane, in Leonardtown, for a reported theft. Investigation revealed Lisa Marie West, age 48, of Lexington Park., concealed numerous items on her person and passed all points of sale. West was cited via a Criminal Citation for Theft. |
Assault- On January 5, 2018, DFC. Lawrence responded to the 23000 block of Broadrun Lane in Hollywood, for a reported assault. Upon arrival the victim advised Suspect Jalin Atibe Lee, age 22, of Hollywood, had assaulted the victim by choking and striking the victim with cardboard tubing. The victim displayed signs of injury and Lee was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault- On January 6, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 18000 block of Matthews Drive in Lexington Park, for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who stated Delmar Brandon Smith, age 23, of Lexington Park, had assaulted the victim by pushing them into the wall several times. Visible injury was observed to the victim and Smith was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Violation of Protective Order- On January 6, 2018, Suspect Michael Patrick Horan, age 24, of Leonardtown, was observed leaving a residence in the 22000 block of Wheatley’s Way, in Leonardtown, after being served a protective order prohibiting him from being at the residence. Horan was arrested and charged with Violate Exparte/Protective Order by DFC. Tirpak. |
Violation of Protective Order- On January 6, 2018, DFC. Lawrence was in the 43000 block of Pump House Lane in Leonardtown, investigating an incident, when he encountered Celester Washington, age 36, of Leonardtown. There is an active protective order preventing Washington from being at that location; Washington was arrested and charged with Violate Exparte/Protective Order. |
Assault- On December 30, 2017, Cpl. Kirkner responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, in Leonardtown, for a reported assault between inmates. Investigation revealed Suspect Shatara Shanille Bowen, age 23, of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim by throwing a cup of cold tea on the victim during an argument. Bowen was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
Assault- On December 31, 2017, Dep. Molitor responded to the 19000 block of Oak Court in Lexington Park, for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined Suspect Robert Andrew Barrett, age 37, of Lexington Park, had assaulted two victims inside of the residence. Both victims had visible injury from the incident; while on scene the suspect threatened one of the victims by brandishing a rifle and yelling threats towards the victim. The suspect was disarmed and it was then discovered Barrett had brandished a BB gun. Barrett was charged with one count of Assault 1st Degree and two counts of Assault 2nd Degree. CDS Violation- On December 31, 2017, Cpl. Potter conducted a traffic stop in the 21000 block Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle operated by Rico Kinta Keys, age 22, of Lexington Park. The search revealed numerous individual bags of synthetic marijuana inside the vehicle. Keys was arrested and charged with CDS Possession-Not Marijuana. |
CDS Violation- On December 31, 2017, Dep. Edwards observed a parked vehicle in the 30000 block of Three Notch Road, in Charlotte Hall, with the occupants slumped over inside the vehicle. While Dep. Edwards was checking their welfare, she observed a glass jar containing suspected marijuana under the operator, Marlee Lynn Stokes’ left leg. A passenger in the vehicle, Robert Gary Lyon Jr., age 35 of Clements, was observed to have a syringe cap on his person, as well as three syringes under the seat where he was sitting. Stokes was removed from the car at which time it was discovered she had numerous prescription pills on her person in a plastic container, and a metal tin. Also discovered in the vehicle were cut up drinking straws containing a white powdery residue. Assault- On January 2, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 20000 block of Daisy Lane in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who advised Suspect Eric Lorenza Berger Jr., age 36, of Lexington Park., had assaulted the victim. The victim displayed visible signs of injury and Berger Jr. was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. (No Photograph Available) |
Assault- On January 1, 2018, Dep. Muschette responded to the 22000 block of Three Notch Road, in California, for a reported assault. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who stated Wayne Tyrome Estep Jr., age 25, of Mechanicsville, was on the premises making noise and disturbing others while awaiting transportation. While Dep. Muschette was conducting the investigation, Estep Jr. struck the victim in the face with a cellphone. Estep Jr. was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. |
CDS Violation- On January 1, 2018, DFC. Steinbach was checking on the status of a vehicle on the side of the road that was reported to have possibly been involved in an accident, in the 23000 block of Colton’s Point Road, in Clements. Contact was made with the vehicle operator Terence Llewelyn Mason, age 53, from Morganza. While contacting Mason, DFC. Steinbach observed a CDS smoking device in plain view inside the vehicle. Further search of the vehicle revealed suspected cocaine in the vehicle and on Mason’s person. Mason was arrested and charged with CDS: Possession Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession Paraphernalia. |
Alcohol Violation- On January 2, 2018, DFC. Beishline observed the suspect, William Alexander Sledge, age 60, of Lexington Park, to have an open container of alcohol at a retail establishment. Sledge was issued a criminal citation for Alcoholic Beverage Open Container/Retail Establishment. A few hours later DFC. Beishline responded to the area again for the citizen report of a man acting suspicious inside the business. The same suspect was again observed inside the establishment with an open container of alcohol.
