Mary Ella Louise Ford, 70 of Lexington Park, MD, affectionately known as “Ella”, departed this life on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Ella was born on April 3, 1947 to the late Joseph Fairfax and Mary Estelle Ford. She was a lifelong resident of Lexington Park, MD and received her education in the St. Mary’s County Public Schools system. After school Ella became a homemaker and also provided domestic work for several families. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, going to BINGO, and doing crossword puzzles. Most importantly, Ella enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Everyone loved her delicious stuffed ham and the phone would ring off the hook during the holidays with people asking “Are you making stuff ham?” She looked forward to cooking holiday meals for her friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Fairfax and Mary Estelle Ford; her sister, Barbara Ann (Bonnie) Ford and step-son, William Derrick Young. Ella leaves to cherish her memories her soul mate of 45 years, William A. Young; four daughters, Gwennie Dorsey (Gerald), Kennie Ann Rodgers (James), Gershia Nelson (Walter) and April Ford; three sons, James Ford (Barbara), William Ford, and Eric Young; two step-sons, Warren Young and Dewayne Young; six sisters, Cecelia Saunders, Gertrude Speck (Don), Sandra Ford, Thelma Curtis (Joseph), Joyce Ford, and Agnes Ford; four brothers, Joseph Ford, Jr. (Diane), William Ford, Charles Ford (Agnes) and Thomas Ford (Bernadette); 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, devoted friends, Francis Campbell, Yvonne Maddox and Ann Swales and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Family and friends will unite on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment to follow at St. Peter Claver Church Cemetery, Ridge, MD.
