On Saturday, March 4, 2018, according to God’s plan, Michael Cornell Sawyers, II, 37 of Bryans Road, MD, departed this earthly life. Michael was born on December 25, 1980, in Presidio, San Francisco, California. He is the son of Michael Cornell Sawyers Sr. and Gloria Sawyers and he is the brother of Letisha Sawyers.
Michael attended elementary School in Natick, MA, Heidelberg, Germany, Fort Washington, MD and Fort Leavenworth, KS. He attended high school in Brandywine, MD and graduated from Evans High School in Augusta, GA in 1999. After graduation, Michael attended Georgia Southern University; majoring in engineering. Prior to passing, Michael was enrolled at the University of Maryland University College; majoring in Cyber Security.
Michael was an active member of Grace Assembly of God in Fort Washington, Maryland. While there, he confessed his faith and was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. On February 7, 2015, he became a member of the Free Gospel Church of Bryans Road under the leadership of Bishop James M. Briscoe.
Michael was a true fan who enjoyed watching and participating in sports. Little known to most, he was also an enthusiastic collector of baseball, basketball, and football cards that numbered in the hundreds.
Michael leaves to mourn his two loving children, Makayla Sawyers and Michael Cornell Sawyers III; the mother of his children, Takeia Jenkins; loving and faithful parents, Gloria Sawyers and Michael Sawyers, Sr. (Cheryl) and his dedicated sisters, Letisha Sawyers, Rachael Wilson (Angeloe) and Joi Barnes. He also leaves to mourn his maternal grandparents, James and Billie Leftwich and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Family and friends will unite on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at Free Gospel Church of Bryans Road, 3180 Livingston Road, Bryans Road, MD 20616. Interment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
