The American Red Cross Greater Chesapeake Region announces Misty L. Bruce as Executive Director of the Red Cross’ Southern Maryland Chapter.
The highly visible role leads and directs volunteers and employees in the Southern Maryland Chapter to ensure the American Red Cross’ goals and mission are achieved. The population served by the chapter ranges between 500,000 and one million that reside in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
“Misty’s personality, management skills and board expertise made her a standout selection for this position,” said American Red Cross Greater Chesapeake Region CEO Scott R. Salemme. “Southern Maryland will benefit greatly from her experience, drive and compassion.”

A graduate of Liberty University in Virginia, Bruce’s undergraduate studies were in psychology and military resilience. Misty is a Certified Professional Facilitator and holds a Master Resilience Trainer Certification from the University of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Army.
Prior to accepting the executive directorship, Misty served as a Service to the Armed Forces Regional Program Specialist in the Alaska Region of the American Red Cross. She has dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Red Cross in multiple capacities. Her prior career experience also includes
