On May 14, 2019, Historic St. Mary’s City registration opened for the July 6 Adults Only tour of the Plantation. There are two scheduled times: 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The tour is an hour in length and will give visitors a glimpse into the sordid side of Maryland’s past, based on real-life events found in court records from the colony. Those attending will travel back in time to a plantation in the 1600s, where the mistress of the house lives up to her title, the master of the house enjoys his liquor, and the indentured servants are up to more than just work. Due to adult content, attendees must be 18 and over; proof of age will be checked prior to the tour.
On January 31, 2019, at the 44th Maryland Preservation Awards, the Maryland Historical Trust Board of Trustees recognized Historic St. Mary’s City Education Department as the winner of a 2019 Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Public Programming for the Adults Only tour.
To make a reservation or for more information, call (240) 895-4990 or [email protected]. The cost of the program is $20 per person ($15 Friends members). Due to limited space for this program, payment is required at the time of registration.
