On Thursday, January 9, 2025, at approximately 1:16 p.m., firefighters and emergency medical services from Second District, Leonardtown, Bay District, and NAS Patuxent River responded to the 21000 block of Hunting Quarter Drive in Callaway, for the reported house on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a 2-story residence with an already extinguished fire on the front porch.
Firefighters wet down the area, checked for extensions, which none were found. Firefighters operated on the scene for approximately 30 minutes before returning to service.
The fire was deemed to be accidental and caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. The homeowner fortunately noticed the fire and extinguished it using a garden hose.
No injuries were reported.
