Asomani Hasan Savage-El, 18, of White Plains, is facing multiple charges including armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a minor, theft between $1,500 and $25,000, handgun in a vehicle, loaded handgun in a vehicle, handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, and possession of a firearm without a serial number, according to court documents.
The charges stem from an incident reported on March 11, 2026, on Promenade Place in Waldorf. According to charging documents filed by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched for a reported armed robbery involving a 17-year-old male victim.
The victim told deputies he was walking near an apartment building when he heard someone say “Aye.” When he turned around, he reported seeing four individuals dressed in black, one of whom was pointing a handgun at him. According to court records, one person in the group told him, “Give me what you got.”
Out of fear, the victim reported handing over several items, including a jacket, shoes, and a mask. While still being threatened, he was told to “Give up his cell phone,” and he complied. The victim then stated he was told to “Run away,” after which he returned home and contacted authorities.
Investigators said the victim used a tracking feature on his phone and observed its movement, which appeared to match a silver Toyota sedan seen in the area. Deputies located a vehicle matching that description shortly afterward and conducted a traffic stop near St. Nicholas Drive.
According to court documents, Savage-El was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Officers reported that he had a handgun in his waistband described as a privately made firearm without a serial number, sometimes referred to as a “ghost gun.” The weapon was loaded with a round in the chamber and additional ammunition in the magazine.
Authorities also reported recovering the victim’s belongings inside the vehicle, including a jacket, shoes, mask, and cell phone. The items were found in various locations within the car, including near where Savage-El was seated.
Savage-El was arrested and transported to the Charles County Detention Center.
Court records show he was initially held without bond following his arrest on March 12, 2026, and again after a bail review hearing on March 13, 2026. During a subsequent hearing on March 19, 2026, a judge ordered his release on personal recognizance with conditions, including placement on private home detention.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 8, 2026, in District Court for Charles County.
