Tyrone Robert Goodman, 46, of Hughesville, is charged with three counts of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault after a March 8, 2026, incident on Sewell Place in Hughesville, according to court documents. The case was filed March 13, 2026, in the District Court for Charles County and remains open.
According to the charging documents, the six charges are tied to three separate alleged victims, identified here as an adult female victim, an adult male victim, and a juvenile victim. Court records say each of the three people is named in one first-degree assault count and one second-degree assault count. The charges were filed by Officer Christopher Truss of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
In the application for charges, Officer Truss wrote that he responded at about 12:24 p.m. on March 8, 2026, to the post office on Prince Frederick Road for a reported first-degree assault. The officer wrote that he first contacted the adult female victim, who said a firearm had been involved and that the incident happened on Sewell Place. The officer then went to the defendant’s residence, later returned to speak with the adult male victim, and noted that the juvenile victim was “sitting in the back of the vehicle during the time of the assault,” according to the court filing.
The same filing says Goodman told the officer that he saw the victims’ vehicle drive past his residence, “exited the house and told the victims to leave the property,” and when they did not leave, “he went back inside and retrieved his Stevens Model 62 .22-caliber rifle” and returned outside. The document states Goodman then “advised the victims to leave again and he pointed his rifle towards their vehicle.” The filing also says Goodman stated that he had told many people that “Sewell Place is not a through roadway to the neighboring properties,” and that he had a property surveyor look at the properties. The officer also wrote, “Sewell Place is also not private road.”
Court records state that the firearm and one round the defendant said was in the chamber were recovered and placed into evidence by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
An arrest warrant was issued March 13, 2026, and was served March 18, 2026, according to the docket. Goodman had an initial appearance that same day, waived an attorney for that hearing, and was later found eligible for representation by the Office of the Public Defender in Charles County, court records show.
During the initial appearance process, Goodman requested a preliminary hearing. That hearing is scheduled for April 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Charles County District Court in La Plata, according to court records.
Court documents show Goodman was released on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond. Release conditions require him to appear in court and not engage in criminal activity while the case is pending.
