UPDATE: GoFundMe Started For Family Displaced by Scotland House Fire, Two Teens Flown Out With Serious Burns and Injuries

UPDATE 3/29/2026: A GoFundMe has been started for the family that has lost many of their belonging and displaced a total of 4 occupants.

Investigation has determined the fire started in the living room, with the cause remaining under investigation.

The estimated loss of structure and contents is valued at $225,000.00

No smoke alarms were found in the home. The fire left a 17-year-old, and 19-year-old with severe burns and injuries.

45 firefighters from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding departments responded and controlled the fire within 30 minutes.

Four occupants are left displaced by the blaze, with family and friends assisting. A GoFundMe has been started and can be found by clicking HERE.

While the fire remains under investigation it is not suspicious in nature.

UPDATE 3/25/2026: This morning, around 7:04 a.m., firefighters, emergency medical services and police responded to the intersection of Scotland Beach Road and Macarthur Drive in Scotland, for the reported house on fire with two victims burned.

Due to the callers information, Aviation was placed on standby and began monitoring the incident.

911 callers reported the house on the corner of the intersection was on fire, with two victims suffering severe burns and injuries after jumping from the residences window.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command pre-launched Trooper 7 who landed nearby. Trooper 2 was started a short time later with both helicopters landing near the scene.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to confirm fire showing from the single story residence with two victims sustaining serious burns.

The victims, a 17-year-old female and a 19-year-old male, were both flown with serious injuries that were possibly life-threatening.

Over 50 firefighters from St. Mary’s and Calvert County responded, with crews controlling the fire within 30 minutes. Searches of the residence found one cat, one dog, and one rabbit. The cat survived their injuries, however, the dog and rabbit sadly perished in the fire.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded and are actively investigating the fire. Preliminary investigation determined the two victims were asleep when the fire started.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 7:04 a.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to Scotland Beach Road and MacArthur Drive in Scotland, for the reported house on fire with burn victims.

911 callers reported the house was on fire, with two victims seriously burned and injured after jumping from the residences windows.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find fire showing from a single story residence and located two victims with serious burns.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command were monitoring the incident and pre-launched Trooper 7 to land nearby due to the victims injuries. A second helicopter has been requested to land nearby.

The incident is ongoing.

Firefighters from Ridge, Bay District, NAS Patuxent River, NAS Webster Field, Second District, Hollywood, Leonardtown, Mechanicsville, and Solomons are responding to assist on the scene, or to provide fill ins to the operating departments.
